I started with a book and a blog, now I'm here...

This all started because I got this crazy idea to be a writer. It was 2007, I just learned I was pregnant with my second child and I wanted to write with every fabric of my being. Specifically, I wanted to be a columnist for O Magazine, but really, any magazine would do.

I didn’t end up writing for O Magazine but I did write/publish my book, Your Big Sister’s Guide to Surviving College, as well as write for other lesser-known print publications. While doing publicity for my book, I was often approached by women wanting to know how I “did it” while paying bills and running after two small children. These inquiries moved me to launch a coaching practice dedicated to helping women live an inspired life amidst the imperfections and chaos of the everyday.

Writing and coaching led to blogging…
Blogging led to podcasting, speaking, and more writing for (now online) publications…
All of the above led to the sweet life as a social media influencer and working with major brands…
Which then led to social media marketing/influencer relations consultant, creative director, and copywriter (sometimes simultaneously)

So how in the world did I get to the point of being a screenwriter, creative coach, et al?

Chalk it up to good ol’ “Creative Adulting.”  True, I answered the call of “writing” but just fell short of the mark. My passion is for fiction and film but since I’d carved out a nice little non-fiction /memoir-ish niche for myself, I thought I kind of missed the boat on pursuing that passion. I’ve written novels and screenplays… none of which have seen the light of day.

At the end of 2017, I’d finally had enough of ignoring the hollering of my heart. I shifted my professional focus away from marketing and back on writing and coaching.  Flipping that mental and emotional switch caused the universe to respond in-kind by bringing me screenwriters, novelists, and memoirists as coaching clients and my first screenwriting gigs as a staff writer for three developing television series… among other things.

And the rest, as they say is history…
