Well, Dancing Queens, alas, the time has come… the colossal Broadway hit, Mama Mia!, is saying goodbye with a farewell tour. I had the pleasure of attending opening night for the Atlanta leg of the tour and this cast is not leaving us unsatisfied!
This is my second time seeing Mama Mia! on stage at The Fabulous Fox Theatre and it was just as much fun as the first time. One, I am a Broadway fanatic. Two, I love ABBA. Three, I am a sucker for a good story. This show is a triple threat. It is also a testimony to the incredible songwriting of ABBA. I grew up with their music so I know every song by heart. But I never knew what powerful love stories they told… until they were used to tell a story.
Do you need to be a fan of ABBA to enjoy this show? Absolutely not! You will laugh and cry and laugh some more. Eventually, you will be dancing with the rest of us… especially at the end. The encore is everything. If you ARE a fan of ABBA, you will get all of your life!
Mama Mia! will be in Atlanta at The Fox Theatre THIS WEEK ONLY! (June 13-18) Click here for other cities on the farewell tour.
Are you sitting down? Because I am about to tell you something that you’re not going to believe…
I had a great experience on Spirit Airlines! No seriously! I’m not kidding! It was very cool! And do you know why? I attribute it to keeping an open mind and the fact that I was not letting anything stop me from going to Costa Rica! Continue reading
One of the cool things about living in Atlanta is knowing that many major motion pictures and television shows are filmed here. There’s always a chance that you’ll stumble upon places where your favorites are shot. One day I went hunting for a new coffee spot and (hopefully) a new WriteSpace and ended up on an unforgettable adventure!

On Mother’s Day weekend, I treated myself to lunch at The Cowfish Burger Sushi Bar. After months of salivating over their Instagram feed, I was over the moon when they announced they’re “NOW OPEN” in Atlanta. Burgers and sushi are two of my three favorite foods, so, of course, I HAD to find out if the food is as good as it looks. I am happy to report that is resoundingly… overwhelmingly… better! Earlier this week I got a sneak peek of The Jungle Book, the latest in Disney’s live-action reboot of animated classics. Once again, Disney does not disappoint… for the most part.
I got to see this film in IMAX 3D and all I can say is WOW! From an artistic perspective, this is a magnificent piece of cinema. It is just freaking beautiful… and so REAL! Seriously! The only thing that reminded me that this was mostly created in a studio was that the animals talked!
So this is NOT your mama’s Jungle Book… or your grandmama’s either. It is a very intense movie! Heart-pounding (and heart-wrenching) action from start to finish. Continue reading
