Well, Dancing Queens, alas, the time has come… the colossal Broadway hit, Mama Mia!, is saying goodbye with a farewell tour. I had the pleasure of attending opening night for the Atlanta leg of the tour and this cast is not leaving us unsatisfied!
This is my second time seeing Mama Mia! on stage at The Fabulous Fox Theatre and it was just as much fun as the first time. One, I am a Broadway fanatic. Two, I love ABBA. Three, I am a sucker for a good story. This show is a triple threat. It is also a testimony to the incredible songwriting of ABBA. I grew up with their music so I know every song by heart. But I never knew what powerful love stories they told… until they were used to tell a story.
Do you need to be a fan of ABBA to enjoy this show? Absolutely not! You will laugh and cry and laugh some more. Eventually, you will be dancing with the rest of us… especially at the end. The encore is everything. If you ARE a fan of ABBA, you will get all of your life!
Mama Mia! will be in Atlanta at The Fox Theatre THIS WEEK ONLY! (June 13-18) Click here for other cities on the farewell tour.
With Venus firmly planted in retrograde and Mercury hot on her heels, this is the perfect time to (re)start a creative habit. I’ve allowed external forces to lure me off of my chosen path and hold my creativity hostage for far too long. Fellow creative soul, Denise Jacobs, has inspired me to begin the “100 Days of Creative Self-Care” project.
What is it?
Exactly what the name implies.
When does it start?
Whenever I want to begin… and that’s today.
What do I have to do?
Whatever I choose that will reconnect me to my creative spirit, nurture my mental and physical health, and make me write fearlessly.
It is, in essence, a challenge. But I don’t want to call it that. I’ve come to learn that the word “challenge” is not a motivator for me. I’m not highly competitive so it has the opposite effect. Instead, I will call it a practice. That’s what it is, after all.
A creative practice… starting with 100 days… continuing for life. See my updates on Instagram and My Single Serving Life.
Guess what? My Single Serving Life story is featured on the Wanderful website!
Wanderful is an awesome community of women travelers with members all over the world. I am fairly new to the community (and to world travel in general) so to have my journey featured on their site is an amazing honor and a warm welcome. Special thanks to Astrid on the Wanderful team for the awesome interview! READ IT HERE!
One of the greatest things about being a writer is knowing that something you’ve written has touched or inspired another person. You never know when or how… but when it happens, it is magic! It reminds me that I need to keep writing because it matters… even if it touches just one person.
My good friend and Costa Rica Travel Squad leader, Tawanna Smith was touched by my account of one of our many adventures in the rain forests and volcanos of Costa Rica that she featured my story on her website, Moms Guide To Travel. I am blessed to call her friend and honored by the gesture.
You can read her feature here as well as read the story on My Single Serving Life.
